Frequently asked questions

Grouped by topic — search if you know what you're after.

General

Yes — browsing destinations, using the AI trip planner, saving a wishlist, and reading or writing reviews are all free. You just need a free account for the personalised features (wishlist, reviews, planner history).
The database grows through a mix of our own research and contributor submissions, so coverage is uneven — some states and cities are far more built-out than others right now. If you spot a thin entry, contributing more detail is genuinely useful.
No. Search results and category listings are ordered by rating, distance, or relevance — never by payment. Any sponsored placement, where it exists, is clearly labelled as sponsored.
It's a live average of real visitor reviews submitted through the site — not an editorial score. A destination with zero reviews shows "New" rather than a fake rating.

Trip Planning

You give it a state, number of days, pace, and optionally an interest category. It queries real destinations from our database, groups them by actual geographic distance so each day's stops are genuinely reachable, and sequences them into a route using real per-type visit-time estimates. It only ever suggests places actually catalogued on the site — nothing is invented.
Yes — the planner has a "pick exact places yourself" mode. You browse every real destination in a state, select the ones you want, and it sequences just those into a realistic day-by-day route.
Yes — every generated itinerary gets a shareable link shown right after it's created. If you're signed in, it also appears under "Your saved itineraries" on your dashboard.
If your day count or pace genuinely can't fit everything in the area you picked, the planner tells you honestly rather than quietly dropping places or pretending a longer drive took less time. Add more days, pick a faster pace, or plan a separate trip for that area.
Every curated tour and every generated itinerary has a "Get a Quote" button. Fill in your dates and group size and it goes straight to a real inbox — you do need to be signed in to submit one.

Contributing

Yes — go to the contributor portal, sign in, and submit it. Every submission goes through a moderation queue before it's published, so it may take a little while to appear.
Use the contributor portal to submit a correction, or reach out via the contact page if it's urgent.
It varies with volume, but most submissions are reviewed within a few days. You won't see it live until it's been checked.

See our privacy policy for the full detail — in short, we don't sell personal data, and reviews you post are shown publicly under your account name.
It's saved and, where our email is configured correctly, sent to a real inbox for follow-up. It's never used for anything beyond preparing and responding to that specific enquiry.
