This explains what discovering.in collects, why, and what we deliberately don't do with it. If any section is unclear, the contact page reaches a real person.
When you create an account, we store your email address, display name, and a securely hashed password — we never store your password in plain text and can't recover it if you forget it, only reset it. If you save destinations, write reviews, submit content as a contributor, or request a trip quote, that activity is tied to your account.
Quote requests specifically also include the phone number, travel dates, and group size you provide — this is used only to prepare and follow up on your enquiry.
Your account data lets you save places, keep planner history, and pick up saved itineraries later. Quote request details are used to prepare a real trip quote and to contact you about it — nothing more.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your email address for anything beyond account-related communication unless you explicitly opt in to a newsletter. We don't run third-party advertising, and Anthropic and other AI vendors involved in building this site never receive your personal account data.
Reviews, contributor submissions, and travel journals you choose to make public are shown alongside your display name. You can request removal of content you've posted by contacting us.
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in while you browse. We don't use third-party tracking or advertising cookies, and we don't run analytics that fingerprint you across other sites.
A small number of services process data on our behalf, strictly to run the site: our database and hosting provider (Hostinger), and email delivery for account and quote-request notifications sent from our own mailbox. None of these are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
Account data is kept for as long as your account exists. Quote requests are retained long enough to complete and follow up on your enquiry, and can be deleted on request once resolved.
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or ask us to delete your account and associated data — reach out through the contact page and we'll action it directly.
discovering.in isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, the "last updated" date above will change and, where the change is significant, we'll note it clearly on this page.
Questions about this policy, or a request relating to your data, can be sent through the contact page.
