Intanki National Park

Intanki National Park, Nagaland's largest protected wildlife area, sits near Dimapur, its dense forest supporting elephants, hoolock gibbons and a range of other species within relatively undisturbed lowland and hill forest terrain. Given Nagaland's mountainous character overall, Intanki's forest represents a significant lowland ecosystem distinct from the higher-altitude terrain more typical of the state's other protected areas.

The park's relative accessibility from Dimapur, combined with its ecological significance as Nagaland's most substantial wildlife reserve, makes it a practical wildlife-focused addition for visitors already passing through the city on their way into or out of the state. Guided nature walks and, where available, jeep tracks offer different ways to explore the reserve's varied terrain.

Declared Nagaland's largest national park, Intanki protects a significant stretch of forest connecting to broader wildlife corridors extending into neighbouring Assam, contributing to elephant and other large mammal conservation across state lines, making it ecologically significant well beyond Nagaland's own borders.
