Kadmat is widely considered Lakshadweep's premier scuba diving destination, its narrow, elongated shape giving it lagoons on both eastern and western sides, each offering different diving and snorkelling conditions. Exceptional coral reef visibility and a relatively well-developed diving infrastructure, including a dedicated dive centre, have made Kadmat a favoured base for visitors specifically prioritising underwater exploration over simple beach relaxation.
The island's twin-lagoon geography also means visitors can typically find calm water for swimming regardless of wind direction, and Kadmat's more developed tourism infrastructure compared to some of Lakshadweep's smaller islands makes it one of the more practical bases for a longer diving-focused stay.
