Minicoy Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in the Lakshadweep archipelago, offers sweeping views across the island's large lagoon and the surrounding ocean from its elevated vantage point. Built during the colonial period to guide ships through what was historically a significant but hazardous shipping route, the lighthouse remains an active navigational aid as well as a popular viewpoint for visitors.
Climbing to the top rewards visitors with one of the best overall views of Minicoy's distinctive geography, including its lagoon, ban tree groves and the traditional stilt houses that distinguish the island's settlements from the rest of Lakshadweep.
History
