Murlen National Park

Murlen National Park, near Champhai, protects a stretch of forest along the Myanmar border known for exceptional plant biodiversity, including numerous rhododendron and orchid species, alongside wildlife including the Mizoram state animal, the serow. The park's relatively high elevation gives it a cooler climate than much of the surrounding Mizo hills, supporting a distinct range of montane forest flora.

Trekking within the park offers visitors a genuine sense of Mizoram's remote eastern wilderness, and its position close to Champhai makes it a practical addition for those already exploring this border region of the state.

Declared a national park to protect its significant biodiversity, particularly its rich orchid and rhododendron flora, Murlen represents one of Mizoram's most botanically significant protected areas, its border-adjacent location contributing to its relative ecological isolation and preservation.
