Bihu is the most important festival of Assam and is closely connected with the agricultural calendar and Assamese culture. The three Bihus mark different stages of the farming cycle. Rongali Bihu celebrates the Assamese New Year and spring, Bhogali Bihu celebrates the harvest and abundance, while Kongali Bihu is a quieter observance associated with prayers for a good harvest.
