Baisakhi is one of the most important festivals of Punjab. Traditionally, it marks the arrival of the harvest season, particularly the harvesting of wheat, one of Punjab's most important crops.
For Sikhs, Baisakhi has an even deeper religious significance. On 13 April 1699, at Anandpur Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, established the Khalsa Panth. He initiated the first members of the Khalsa and gave a new collective identity and spiritual discipline to the Sikh community.
Thus, Baisakhi combines agricultural celebration with Sikh religious history, making it particularly significant in Punjab.
