Guru Ghasidas National Park

Guru Ghasidas National Park, in Koriya district in Chhattisgarh's far north, is one of the state's larger protected forest areas, named after the 18th-century social reformer and spiritual leader born in the region. Its forests, part of a wider tiger conservation landscape connecting to neighbouring states, support a range of central Indian wildlife within relatively undisturbed terrain.

The park remains one of Chhattisgarh's less-visited wildlife destinations, appealing mainly to those specifically seeking a quieter, less commercialised forest experience than the state's better-known reserves further south. Its size and connectivity to forest corridors beyond the state border also give it particular significance for wider regional wildlife movement and conservation planning.

Named in honour of Guru Ghasidas, founder of the Satnami religious and social reform movement who was born in this district in the 18th century, the park's designation reflects both ecological protection goals and regional cultural pride in its namesake, whose teachings continue to influence social and religious life across much of Chhattisgarh.
