Introduction

Krang Suri Falls, near Jowai in the Jaintia Hills, is known for exceptionally clear turquoise water pooling at its base, considered one of the most strikingly colourful waterfalls in Meghalaya and increasingly popular for swimming as well as sightseeing. The falls' relatively remote location in the Jaintia Hills, somewhat off the more heavily trafficked Cherrapunji circuit, has helped preserve a comparatively unspoiled, less crowded atmosphere.

A short walk from the parking area leads down to the falls, and the clear, inviting pool at the base has made Krang Suri one of the more popular swimming spots among Meghalaya's numerous waterfalls, particularly appealing to visitors wanting more than just a viewing experience.

History

Krang Suri's clear water and swimming-friendly pool have contributed to its growing popularity in recent years as visitors increasingly seek out Meghalaya's less-crowded Jaintia Hills waterfalls as an alternative to the busier Cherrapunji circuit.

Best time to visit

October to April for clearest water; monsoon offers fuller flow but murkier conditions.
