Sekta Archaeological Living Museum

Sekta Archaeological Living Museum, near Imphal, is built around an excavated ancient burial and habitation site, presenting archaeological findings alongside reconstructed traditional Meitei structures to give visitors a combined sense of the region's ancient past and its continuity into more recent traditional Manipuri life. Excavated pottery, tools and other artefacts recovered from the site are displayed alongside explanations of their archaeological context and significance.

The 'living museum' concept, combining preserved archaeological remains with functioning traditional structures, distinguishes Sekta from a conventional static museum, giving visitors a more immersive sense of how ancient and traditional Manipuri material culture connects to the present day.
