Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary, Haryana's largest wetland bird sanctuary, is built around a reservoir on the Jawaharlal Nehru canal, drawing significant numbers of migratory waterfowl each winter including several duck species and other wetland birds. Its relatively low profile compared to more famous bird sanctuaries elsewhere in North India means it remains an uncrowded destination for birdwatching visitors.
A watchtower and walking paths around parts of the reservoir provide viewing points without disturbing the birds, and the sanctuary's manageable size makes it possible to cover in a half-day visit, appealing particularly to birders based in Delhi or Gurugram looking for a nearby wetland destination.
Declared a bird sanctuary to protect the wetland habitat created by the reservoir, Bhindawas has developed into one of Haryana's more significant sites for migratory bird conservation, particularly for various duck species during the winter months.
