Hirni Falls

Hirni Falls sits at the edge of the Ranchi plateau near Bandgaon in West Singhbhum district, where a river plunges around 37 metres in a broad torrent through dense forest — a setting quiet enough that the falls remain considerably less crowded than the better-known cascades closer to Ranchi. The name is said to evoke a wild deer ('hirni'), a nod to the untamed character of the surrounding jungle.

Because it sits further out along the Ranchi–Chaibasa road, Hirni tends to draw a smaller, more local crowd than Hundru or Dassam, making it a genuine option for travellers hoping to experience one of Jharkhand's waterfalls without the crowds that gather at the more famous sites during peak season.

Hirni has remained a comparatively local attraction, its distance from Ranchi's main tourist circuit helping preserve a quieter, less developed atmosphere than the state's more heavily visited waterfalls.
