Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple

Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple, in Karaikal, is dedicated to one of the most revered female Shaivite saints in Tamil devotional tradition, a poet-mystic whose intense devotion to Shiva is celebrated in some of the earliest surviving Tamil devotional (bhakti) poetry.
