Mollem National Park

Mollem National Park forms the core protected zone within the wider Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, a dense forest landscape in Goa's Western Ghats interior offering trekking trails, ancient temple ruins and access to Dudhsagar Waterfalls. Its relative remoteness from the coast gives visitors a very different sense of Goa than the beach resorts, one rooted in forest and hill terrain rather than sand and sea.

The park's Tambdi Surla temple, an intact 12th-century Kadamba-era stone shrine deep in the forest, is among its most significant heritage sites, having survived largely undamaged through centuries partly due to its remote, hard-to-reach location.

Declared a national park in 1978 as part of broader efforts to protect Goa's interior forest ecosystem, Mollem's boundaries encompass some of the state's oldest surviving temple architecture alongside its wildlife and waterfalls.

About 60km from Panaji, roughly 1.5-2 hours by road.
