Nani Daman Fort

Nani Daman Fort, also known as the Fort of St. Catherine, sits on the southern bank of the Daman Ganga river, facing its larger counterpart Moti Daman Fort across the water. Smaller and less elaborately developed than Moti Daman, it retains a quieter, more overlooked character despite its equally significant role in the town's Portuguese-era defensive network.

A lighthouse within the fort complex offers views over the river mouth and the Arabian Sea beyond, and the fort's comparatively fewer visitors give it a more contemplative atmosphere than the busier heritage sites across the water in Moti Daman.

Built by the Portuguese to defend the southern approach to Daman's harbour, Nani Daman Fort worked in tandem with Moti Daman Fort across the river to control access to the town throughout the colonial period.
