Neemrana Fort Palace

Neemrana Fort Palace, dating back over 550 years, has been transformed from a crumbling ruin into one of India's most celebrated heritage hotels, its restoration preserving the fort's original architecture while adding modern comforts across its many tiered levels built into the surrounding hillside. Even for visitors not staying overnight, the fort's dramatic architecture and position make it a worthwhile stop en route between Delhi and Jaipur.

The fort's careful, gradual restoration has become something of a model for heritage hotel conversion in India, and Neemrana's combination of genuine historical architecture with hospitality-focused modern use gives visitors a chance to experience a Rajasthani fort as a living space rather than purely as a static monument.

Neemrana Fort was originally built in 1464 CE by Prithviraj Chauhan II, a descendant of the Chauhan dynasty. It became the capital of the Chauhan rulers of Neemrana and remained an important fortified settlement for several centuries.

After falling into decline, the fort was restored beginning in the 1980s by heritage conservationists Aman Nath and Francis Wacziarg. The restoration transformed the historic complex into a heritage hotel while preserving many of its original architectural features, courtyards and structures. Today, Neemrana Fort Palace is regarded as an important example of adaptive reuse and Rajasthan's living heritage.

By Air: The nearest major airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, approximately 100 km from Neemrana. Jaipur International Airport is another option, around 150 km away.

By Train: The nearest railway station is Neemrana Railway Station, while Rewari and Alwar are larger railway stations with broader connectivity. Taxis can be used for the onward journey.

By Road: Neemrana is conveniently located along the Delhi–Jaipur National Highway (NH 48). It is approximately 120 km from Delhi and around 150 km from Jaipur, making it easily accessible by car, taxi and intercity buses.
