The goddess's striking, self-decapitated iconography sets the temple apart from many other Shakti shrines, and it draws devotees engaged in tantric worship traditions alongside more conventional pilgrims.
The river confluence itself creates small cascades near the temple, and nearby Gadiya mountain offers wider views over the area for those extending their visit beyond the temple grounds. Festivals including Makar Sankranti, Maha Shivaratri and Vijayadashami bring especially large crowds to Rajrappa, transforming the riverside site into one of the busier pilgrimage destinations in the state during these periods.
History
Rajrappa has long served as a centre for tantric worship of the goddess Chhinnamasta, one of the ten Mahavidyas in Shakta tradition, its riverine setting at the Damodar–Bhairavi confluence adding to its ritual significance over the centuries.
