The town's cooler climate and relatively central position within South Sikkim make it a practical base for exploring nearby monasteries, tea gardens and the sacred Tendong Hill.
Ravangla's growing tourism infrastructure, developed specifically around the Buddha Park attraction, has given the town increased visitor traffic in recent years, though it retains a generally calmer, less crowded atmosphere than Sikkim's more established northern tourist circuit. Its position between Pelling and Namchi also makes it a convenient overnight stop for visitors touring South and West Sikkim together.
History
