Vagamon

Vagamon, a lesser-visited hill station in Idukki district, combines rolling grasslands, pine forests and tea estates in a setting quieter and less commercially developed than Munnar. The Vagamon meadows, an unusually flat expanse of grassland at altitude, have become popular for paragliding, while nearby pine forests planted during the colonial period offer a distinctly different, cooler-climate walking environment from Kerala's typical tropical scenery.

A pilgrim centre, Kurisumala (Cross Hill), draws Christian visitors alongside the area's primarily nature-focused tourism, and Vagamon's overall quieter pace has made it an increasingly popular alternative for travellers seeking Munnar-style scenery without Munnar's larger crowds.

Vagamon's tea and pine plantations trace back to British colonial-era agricultural development in the region, though the area has remained considerably less developed for mass tourism than Munnar, preserving a quieter character.
