Deorani-Jethani Temple

The Deorani-Jethani temples in Tala village are among the oldest surviving brick temple structures in Chhattisgarh, their name — meaning 'younger and elder sister-in-law' — reflecting local folklore about the two adjacent shrines. Though largely in ruins today, the surviving carved brickwork and stone elements offer a rare glimpse of early medieval temple construction techniques predating the more famous stone temples built in later centuries.

The site's relative obscurity and ruined state mean it draws mainly those with a specific interest in early Indian temple architecture rather than general tourists, but for such visitors it represents one of the more significant, lesser-known heritage sites in the state.

Believed to date to around the 5th–6th century CE, making them among the earliest known brick temple structures in the region, the Deorani-Jethani temples predate the majority of Chhattisgarh's better-preserved later stone temples by several centuries.
