Dzükou Valley

Dzükou Valley is one of the most beautiful and pristine natural destinations in Nagaland, located along the border of Nagaland and Manipur. Situated at an altitude of around 2,400 metres, the valley is famous for its rolling green hills, crystal-clear streams, seasonal flowers, and breathtaking landscapes. Known as the "Valley of Flowers of Northeast India," Dzükou is especially famous for the rare Dzükou Lily, which is found only in this region. Surrounded by mountains and untouched wilderness, the valley is a paradise for trekkers, nature lovers, and adventure enthusiasts seeking a peaceful Himalayan experience.

Dzükou Valley has traditionally been part of the ancestral lands of the Angami Naga community, who have lived in the surrounding hills for generations. The valley holds cultural significance among local tribes and has been preserved through traditional practices that respect the natural environment. The name "Dzükou" is believed to have originated from the Angami language, referring to the valley's cold water streams and scenic landscape. For many years, the valley remained known mainly among local communities before gaining popularity among trekkers and travellers. Conservation efforts have focused on protecting its unique ecosystem, including rare plant species and wildlife. Trek begins from Zakhama or Viswema villages, about 30km from Kohima.
