Japfu Peak

Japfu Peak, the second-highest peak in Nagaland, is renowned for hosting what is claimed to be the world's tallest rhododendron tree, a single specimen recognised by the Guinness Book of Records, alongside sweeping views over the surrounding Naga hills and, on clear days, toward Dzukou Valley below. The trek to the summit, while demanding, is one of the more popular multi-day hikes in the region, often combined with the Dzukou Valley trek given their shared trailhead area.

Camping near the summit allows trekkers to catch sunrise over the surrounding ranges, and Japfu's combination of genuine botanical significance and rewarding high-altitude scenery has made it one of Nagaland's most celebrated trekking destinations for visitors willing to commit to the physical effort required.

The rhododendron tree on Japfu Peak's slopes, recognised as the world's tallest of its kind, has become a specific point of pride and interest for botanists and trekkers alike, adding a unique natural landmark to the peak's broader appeal.
