Hayuliang

Hayuliang is a beautiful hill town located in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, situated along the banks of the Lohit River and surrounded by the majestic Eastern Himalayas. Known for its breathtaking mountain views, lush green valleys, and peaceful environment, Hayuliang is one of the scenic destinations of eastern Arunachal Pradesh. The town is primarily inhabited by the Mishmi tribal communities, who are known for their unique traditions, festivals, handicrafts, and traditional way of life. With attractions such as Hayuliang View Point, nearby tribal villages, rivers, and Himalayan landscapes, the town offers visitors an opportunity to experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region.

Hayuliang has a long history connected with the Mishmi tribes, who have inhabited the Lohit Valley and surrounding Himalayan regions for generations. The area was traditionally organised through indigenous village systems, with communities depending on agriculture, forests, and rivers for their livelihood. Historically, the region served as a route connecting the plains of Assam with the Himalayan and Tibetan regions through mountain passes. During British rule, the area came under the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) administration and later became part of Arunachal Pradesh after independence. Hayuliang gained importance as an administrative centre of Anjaw district and developed as a gateway to remote border villages. Today, it continues to preserve its tribal heritage, natural landscapes, and cultural traditions while representing the unique identity of eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
