Panchkula

Panchkula, part of the Chandigarh tri-city area, developed as a planned satellite town extending the same Modernist urban design principles found in neighbouring Chandigarh, though with its own distinct residential and commercial character. The town's proximity to attractions like Nada Sahib Gurudwara, the Cactus Garden and the Morni Hills gives it a useful base for exploring the wider tri-city region's natural and cultural sites.

As a newer planned town, Panchkula lacks the deep historical layers found in older Haryana cities, but its clean, well-organised layout and green spaces reflect the same broader planning philosophy that shaped Chandigarh, giving it a noticeably different urban character from most other towns in Haryana.

Established in the 1990s as a planned extension of the Chandigarh urban area specifically within Haryana state, Panchkula was designed to relieve pressure on the original union territory while maintaining a similarly organised approach to city planning.
