Qutb Shahi Tombs

Qutb Shahi Tombs, near Golconda Fort, form a necropolis of domed mausoleums built for successive rulers of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, their distinctive Indo-Persian architectural style — bulbous domes atop square bases with pointed arches — representing one of the most significant surviving collections of Deccan Islamic funerary architecture. Extensive recent restoration work has returned much of the site's original grandeur, including recovered decorative tilework and plasterwork on several of the tombs.

As the burial site of the same dynasty that founded Hyderabad and built Golconda Fort, the tombs offer visitors a natural extension to a Golconda visit, tracing the dynasty's history from its fortified capital through to its rulers' final resting places within a short distance of each other.

The tombs house the remains of most Qutb Shahi rulers from the dynasty's founding in the early 16th century through to its conquest by the Mughals in 1687, with each successive ruler's tomb reflecting evolving architectural taste across nearly two centuries of dynastic rule.
