Zakir Hussain Rose Garden

Spread across roughly 30 acres in Sector 16, the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is billed as Asia's largest rose garden, home to more than 1,600 varieties of roses alongside a wider collection of medicinal and aromatic plants. Laid out with wide lawns, walking paths and shaded seating areas, it functions as much as a public park for the city's residents as a specialist botanical attraction.

The garden bursts into full colour each February during the Chandigarh Rose Festival, when the grounds host cultural performances, food stalls and horticultural displays alongside the blooming roses, drawing large crowds from across the region. Outside festival season, it remains a popular, quieter spot for morning walks and picnics.

Named after Dr. Zakir Husain, the third President of India and a botanist by training, the garden was developed as part of Chandigarh's broader planned network of themed gardens under the city's original Le Corbusier-influenced urban design.

In Sector 16, central Chandigarh, easily reached by auto-rickshaw or cab.
