Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary

Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary is one of India's largest wildlife sanctuaries by area, encompassing much of the Great Rann of Kutch and supporting a range of desert-adapted wildlife including the Indian wild ass, found nowhere else in India in significant numbers. The sanctuary's vast, largely flat terrain gives it an expansive, almost otherworldly character distinct from more conventional forested reserves.

Wildlife viewing here often combines with broader Rann of Kutch sightseeing, given the overlapping geography, and the sanctuary's role in protecting the endangered wild ass population gives it particular conservation significance beyond its scenic value.
