Morni Hills

Morni Hills is Haryana's only hill station, a modest range of Shivalik foothills offering a cooler climate and forested scenery quite different from the flat agricultural plains that dominate most of the state. Two small lakes near the main settlement provide boating, and hiking trails through the surrounding hills lead past an old fort and several viewpoints over the wider Shivalik range.

Given Haryana's otherwise almost entirely flat terrain, Morni Hills has become a popular, easily reached weekend escape for residents of Chandigarh and Panchkula in particular, offering a manageable dose of hill-station scenery without the longer travel required to reach Himachal Pradesh.

The old Morni Fort, after which the hills are named, dates back several centuries and was historically the seat of a small local chieftaincy before the area's more recent development as a modest tourist destination.
