Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple

Nageshwar Temple, near Dwarka, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva, marked today by a colossal 25-metre statue of Shiva visible from a considerable distance, standing at the temple entrance. Considered one of the most important stops on the wider Dwarka pilgrimage circuit, the temple draws devotees combining a visit here with Dwarkadhish Temple and Beyt Dwarka in a single extended pilgrimage.

The temple's coastal setting near the Arabian Sea adds to its scenic appeal, and its relatively compact scale compared to some of India's larger Jyotirlinga temples makes it possible to visit without the extended queues found at some other major Shiva pilgrimage sites.

References to a Shiva temple at this location, associated with the Jyotirlinga tradition, appear in ancient Hindu scripture, though the current temple structure and its landmark statue are considerably more recent additions to the historic pilgrimage site.
