Introduction

Nagoa is Diu's most popular beach, a horseshoe-shaped stretch of golden sand backed by palm trees, calm enough for safe swimming and a range of water sports including jet skiing, banana boat rides and parasailing. Its relatively sheltered bay makes it noticeably calmer than some of the island's more exposed coastline, a key reason for its popularity with families.

Beachside shacks serve fresh seafood and cold drinks through the day, and a scattering of budget guesthouses within walking distance make Nagoa a natural base for those spending more than a day exploring Diu's compact coastline. Sunset here, with the calm water catching the evening colour, is a particular highlight.

History

Nagoa's development as Diu's primary tourist beach grew alongside the island's rise as a weekend getaway destination for visitors from Gujarat, given Diu's distinct liquor licensing laws that differ from the surrounding dry state.

Best time to visit

October to March, avoiding the peak summer heat and monsoon.

How to reach

About 8km from Diu town, roughly 20 minutes by auto-rickshaw or scooter.
