Solang Valley, just beyond Manali, is Himachal's most developed adventure sports hub, offering paragliding, zorbing, cable car rides and, in winter, skiing and snowboarding on slopes accessible without the longer journey required to reach Rohtang Pass. Its proximity to Manali and wide range of activities have made it one of the most visited single destinations in the entire Kullu-Manali circuit.
The Solang cable car provides sweeping views over the valley and surrounding peaks for visitors not participating in the more active sports on offer, making it accessible even to those simply wanting the scenery without the adrenaline.
Solang's development as an adventure sports centre grew rapidly from the 1990s and 2000s onward, as improved infrastructure and Manali's overall tourism boom made the valley's slopes and open terrain increasingly accessible to mainstream visitors.
December to February for snow sports; March to June and September to November for paragliding and other activities.
