Tipi Orchid Research Centre, also known as Tipi Orchidarium, is a renowned orchid conservation and research centre located in Tipi, West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Situated near the banks of the Bharali River and surrounded by the lush forests of the Eastern Himalayas, it is one of the largest orchid centres in India. The centre is famous for its extensive collection of native orchid species, colourful orchid gardens, and scientific research on orchid conservation. Tipi Orchid Research Centre was established in 1972 by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to conserve, study, and promote the rich orchid diversity of the region. Arunachal Pradesh is part of the Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspot and is home to a large number of rare and endemic orchid species. The centre was developed as a hub for orchid research, propagation, and preservation, helping protect valuable plant species from habitat loss and overexploitation. The orchidarium at Tipi features a large collection of orchids, including many native species found in the Himalayan forests. Over the years, the centre has played an important role in botanical research, conservation awareness, and promoting orchid-based tourism. Today, Tipi Orchid Research Centre remains one of the most important floral heritage sites of Northeast India.
