Zero Point (Yumesamdong)

Zero Point, formally known as Yumesamdong, marks the end of the motorable road beyond Yumthang Valley, its high-altitude, snow-covered terrain offering visitors one of the most accessible glimpses of genuine high-Himalayan landscape available by vehicle in Sikkim. Snow is present here for much of the year even outside winter, making it a popular stop for visitors, particularly those from warmer parts of India, experiencing snow for the first time.

The site's extreme altitude means the air is notably thin, and visitors typically spend only a limited time here before descending, but the stark, barren beauty of the landscape, framed by surrounding peaks, makes Zero Point one of the most visually dramatic short stops on the wider North Sikkim circuit.

Zero Point's name reflects its status as the final point accessible by road before the terrain becomes impassable to vehicles, marking the practical edge of North Sikkim's high-altitude road network.

About 25km beyond Lachung, roughly 1.5-2 hours further by road; an inner-line permit is required.
